Although Tramadol is similar to a narcotic, it is actually a synthetic analgesic that belongs to the class of drugs known as opioid agonists. These drugs provide effective pain relief for moderate or severe levels by altering the way in which the body perceives pain. Tramadol is also not considered a NSAID or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
